Pick one please

Animals or human beings?
Conservation or poverty?

...
It's because too much is at stake.

dilemma

What would I do if I have financial woes and my beloved pet needs surgery to save its life? A surgery can easily cost $1000; am I willing to fork out that sum of money, and scrimp and save for the next few months? Is that money worth extending my pet's life by a few years? Perhaps an additional few more years of companionship and happiness?

Now let's imagine my pet as a fellow human being.

Will I?

I will definitely pay for the surgery, even if it means having bread and tuna for all 3 meals for the next 2 months.

On a lighter note, LOVE is in the AIR! :DD -aww!-
This indescribable euphoria; falling leaves, light autumn breeze...

That's what a gentle kiss on the nose feels like...

The sense of touch.

Dang, I hate the smell of the shit and pee in the cages (Yes, cuz I'm too lazy to get a mask).
Especially the cats, pee-eww... their urine stinks worse than ours. And it sucks when there's wet stool on the floor.
But on the other hand, they are such lovely animals! I love rubbing the tummy of the resident dog; she totally enjoys it.

And this kitten who was admitted yesterday is such an angel. She rubs her head on my hand and then lies on my arm purring and meowing. Poor thing got a fractured humerus though.

There's another resident kitten who is really feisty. It's so crazy as it attacks everything that moves suddenly, like my hand; you should see the scratch marks it left on me.

This rottweiler did an ultrasound today, and boy, it was really awesome. I couldn't really figure out what was on the screen until the doc pointed them out. AND, the dog left ticks on my jeans as well as the entire clinic and I had to run my pair of jeans under hot water to kill the ticks.

Read up about parvovirus today. Interesting (:

raining dogs and cats

It was pouring this morning.

Shagged but really enjoying work (:
Though the day usually begins with cleaning the cages and feeding the animals, I usually hang around the surgery room looking at how the domestic animals get their balls chopped off or getting spayed. Sometimes I get to see other surgeries like removal of growths on the body (: Really awesome. There are a few resident animals like this dog and a kitten. Hhaha the kitten's really feisty; it clawed at me and bit me thinking I'm some sort of rat. And for the dog, it loves getting a good tummy rub (:
Well, it's only day 2, so... hopefully there will be more interesting things to learn! :D

haha, oh and there were a few dogs that sniffed at me when they walked past me when I was going home; I secretly think that they are attracted to the smell that was lingering on my jeans (I hugged the resident bitch before I left the place) :)

I smell like a dog.

time to EXERCISE!

After night cycling on friday, I deduced that my fitness is horrible =( Since I'm unemployed now, I better take this chance to train. Anyway, I biked from ECP to BEDOK to UPPER CHANGI to GEYLANG to NICOLL HIGHWAY to LAU PAT SAT to TIONG BAHRU to BUONA VISTA to KENT RIDGE to PASIR PANJANG and to VIVO CITY before heading back to ECP. Okay, the distance wasn't THAT long; it was the slopes that made my legs feel like jelly. Yeah, and there weren't a lot of slopes but because I used the wrong set of gears for the first few slopes, coupled with my lack of exercise -the last time I really exercised was millions of years ago- my thighs started cramming up and I could feel my muscles screaming for me to stop. And for the rest of the slopes I nearly died. I think what pulled me through was this phrase "what goes up must come down", which kept ringing in my head whenever I was on a slope and of course, the people who were in front of me. I think I'm stubborn because I kept believing that whatever they could do, I could. If the slopes were steeper and longer, maybe I would have lost balance and rolled down the slopes.
On a lighter note, it's an awesome feeling riding on the roads at night; the wind rushing through your hair, the silence of the CBD and having the entire road to yourself. When the entire city was at sleep, there we were, coursing through the roads of Singapore. Yeah, virgin experience (:
After that, I was mentally awake (like seriously wide awake; I think I could solve a PSLE math question at that point of time. HAHA) but physically drained. Had a bath and went to bed at 9 in the morning and woke up at 12nn so that I wouldn't screw up my weekend.

In the afternoon, my dad, mum and I went to Suntec so that I could submit more applications (: thanks a lot! After which, we went to the food fair! It was PACKED with people. Is there a recession? hahaha maybe because people were there to make use of the discounted prices; maybe not because everyone was still spending on lots of food like Bak kwa.

All geared up to clean some shit tomorrow! ((: I'm feeling super excited!

TSKK

Just read XY's tag and I think that "Sadness is NOW" too. Hahah so after a good rest, I woke up feeling refreshed again. Chucked the rest of my thoughts away and made my way to the NUS open house. We spent almost 2hours and a half in a single exhibition hall asking about courses, taking brochures, and venturing into faculty exhibits like ENGINEERING, which I will never go to. ((:
Kind of sad that we people tend to have impressions of people of certain faculties, like how we look at things from different perspectives. Haha, yeah, and I'm guilty of that too. SO it's human nature to judge, no?

Anyway, after that, val, van and I headed to City hall. BIGG mistake! The moment we alighted at city hall, we realised there was a IT fair going on at Suntec. -_- We made our way through the crowd and stopped by Gelare for desserts before going to Marina square. HUGE mistake too!

Bummed around and when we left marina square, we were greeted by this swarm of people. The escalator was stopped, so we couldn't get down to city link, and it was pouring really heavily. We took a detour and entered City Link from another entrance and guess what, there was a human jam; the only option left was to keep inching forward. And I felt like I was part of a emperor penguin colony. haha
And here comes the irritating part of this experience: People like to shove and push when stuck in a jam. Seriously! Just keep your hands to yourself and quit shoving! Oh, and there was this China guy (I'm sorry, but he was really from China), who stretched his hand straight out and jabbed me in my ribs while trying to make a clearing for himself to walk. Wtf. If I'm taking sociology, the first topic I will research on will be the reasons why people are self-centered.
And there were people climbing over the railing too! what barbaric behaviour! tskk.

tomorrow shall be the first day of unemployment! hhahaha. (: FTT too!

pissed

I've yet to understand why some people can be so oblivious to their surroundings; other's presence, emotions and feelings. I know, I do not have to rack my brains and try to figure something out, but it's so irritating. I thought I've settled it, I've thought about complexities to it, but no, I'm wrong, again. I don't know if I should be glad or what; thankful because you've taught me the harsh realities of life? Or upset because there have been countless occasions of such unhappy happenings.

10, 20 years down the road, seriously, how many people will even bother to send an email and ask about how you are doing? Perhaps that's only when you find out who your good pals are. Even now, how many people bother to initiate a meet-up? People just wait, and let time slip pass; we take things for granted. And when people die, we regret not spending more time with them.

They say that "birds of a feather flock together". So does that mean that loners are unique people with unique personalities? And if you have a split personality, does that then make you a hybrid?

and...you know, it's pretty sad if someone can't trust anyone.

Perhaps we should all be plain-boring, simple creatures like algae.

---

Have I mentioned how rude MOST Singaporeans are? They squeeze their way through the door as they BOARD the trains; they don't thank you when you hold the door for them; they call people so obviously younger than them AUNTIES and UNCLES. Seriously wtf. Maybe it's time to bring out SINGA the mascot for the courtesy campaign again.

---

On a lighter note, yesterday was officially my last day at work. No work but all play yesterday! So thousands of kids flocked to the JW swimming complex for Aqua fiesta and the place was packed. Had real fun doing duty, getting into the water, splashing about, dunking wenrui, playing waterpolo and much more. Thank goodness there wasn't any rain to jeopardize the entire carnival. (:

Today saw me at NTU open day. Er... well, it was informative. How I wish I can fly off to the various open houses. Sigh. And I think I will probably have to give up Nottingham. Who says money can't buy happiness? BUT I was thinking about it this afternoon, and then I saw this line of words on this guy's shirt.

It said "Don't be sad because it's over; be happy because it happened".
I thought it was pretty timely, and well, I accepted the fact that I won't be too dejected if I can't get to go Vet school in the end (:

(wow, long post. haha)

Ah yes, so I've quit teaching. Going into other jobs, and hopefully I'll find one really soon. Teaching has made me realised a lot of things. 1) How kids are so pampered nowadays. 2) How different Singapore kids are as compared to kids from third world nations. 3) Kids tell horrible lies. 4) I hate myself when I scream at kids; it's just not me. 5) 6) 7)...

okay, that's all for today. NUS open day tomorrow! :D

Thursday, March 12, 2009

I've decided to quit teaching and try other jobs before I enter university, so Friday will be my last official day (: Unofficially, today's my last because I don't have to teach much tomorrow- maybe 10 mins to give out holiday hmwk *evil smile*- and friday's AQUA FIESTA for Nanyang, so we'll be at the swimming pool! how cool is that!

I will definitely miss all the stupid things we do in the staff room, binging at the staff lounge, commenting on scholarships/ prospective jobs/ courses etc. With 3 teachers gone, the OLD printing room will be quieter! haha, hopefully Caryn can join Ms Choo at Nanyang! ((:

I'm going to be unemployed as of Saturday the 14th.

On another note, Nottingham gave me an offer! :DD Okay, now monetary issues to settle =(
But I'm still super duper happy! (: Couldn't stop smiling when I saw the email (:

Goodbye Miss Ho, Hello Kwan Ling! :D
haha I hate it when I have to scream at pupils; I think that's the worse part of the job.

I hope all goes well on Tuesday! and people reply me soon.

We don't need to go that far
Let's hold on to where we are
If it's real we'll make it through...

It's a jumble of feelings; anxiety; worry; excitement.

FIVE

I had a great weekend, spending time with friends in the Mandai area.

NS duty on Saturday was okay... I guess one cannot expect too much. We saw the Tarsier really up close for the very first time since we started volunteering! Hopefully that's a good sign for all of us ((: The weather was really wet and I felt like I was trudging in a rainforest with paved ground or something. Loved the smell of the rain, but hated my soaked shoes.

On the first day of March, Wei Ting, Wei Rong and I went to the ZOO (: It was my longest trip to the Zoo since the day I was born. Hhaha yes, we spent 8 hours at the Zoo! Walked till noon, before heading for lunch and playing at the new water playground! hahahahah there were a gazillion kids there and I bet there's pee in the pool too. =X hahah.
But it POURED cats and dogs after that. =( So we trudged in the rain and seeked shelter at various points. Oh, and we saw the skulls of the cheetah, the leopard, the lion and the hyena. It's really really awesome! (((:

Week 9, term 1!
Pleaseeee reply me asap =( and I hope I get it.
Homo Sapiens are weird animals.
